This policy applies to chordwright websites, product features, account tools, editor workflows, library pages, public chart pages, request and comment features, reports, and related services. It applies when you create an account, sign in, write drafts, publish charts, submit requests or comments, send reports or messages, upload avatars, or contact the site operator. It does not control third-party websites or services that have their own privacy policies.

Information We Collect

2. Information created when you use chordwright

• Technical data, such as browser type, device details, request details, approximate timestamps, request IDs, and error logs.
• First-party product analytics, such as pages visited and whether registration, login, or chart-publishing steps were completed. Analytics use a random visitor identifier and do not store chart contents, passwords, verification codes, or raw network addresses.
• Security data, such as rate-limit events, request validation events, abuse-prevention signals, and hashed network identifiers.
• Product state, such as dashboard, library, editor, session, and preference choices needed to keep the service working.
• Local draft data stored in your browser using IndexedDB or similar browser storage so the editor can recover work in progress.

3. Information from service features and providers

• Music metadata results from configured music data providers when you search for or verify public song information.
• Moderation results from configured moderation tools when user-submitted text, reports, avatars, or similar content need review.
• Authentication, hosting, database, storage, monitoring, and deployment records needed to operate the service.

How We Use Information

We use information to provide, protect, and improve chordwright.

• Create accounts, sign users in, and protect sessions.
• Save drafts, published charts, chart metadata, preferences, and library content.
• Display dashboards, profile pages, public charts, requests, comments, and shared chart experiences.
• Support publishing, copying, forking, archiving, deleting, reporting, and requesting workflows.
• Search or verify public music metadata through configured music data providers.
• Moderate comments, reports, avatars, messages, and other user content for spam, abuse, or policy violations.
• Prevent abuse, investigate suspicious activity, enforce product rules, and maintain service reliability.
• Debug errors, analyze performance, monitor security events, and improve product quality.
• Measure aggregate usage and conversion through registration and chart-publishing workflows.
• Communicate service-related updates, account notices, privacy responses, and support replies.

Public Content

Some activity is visible because chordwright includes sharing and community features. Published charts, public profile labels, public requests, chart metadata, comments, and other public submissions may be visible to other users and visitors. Drafts, account settings, and private product state are intended to remain private unless you publish, share, or otherwise disclose them.

You are responsible for the information you choose to include in public chart content, comments, requests, messages, and profile details.

How and When We Share Information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only in limited situations.

• With service providers that help host, store, authenticate, monitor, search, moderate, deploy, or deliver chordwright.
• With music metadata providers when you use features that search for or verify public song information.
• With moderation providers when submitted content needs review for abuse, spam, or policy violations.
• With legal, security, or safety parties when necessary to comply with law, protect rights, investigate abuse, prevent harm, or resolve disputes.
• With other users and visitors when you choose to publish, comment, request, share, or otherwise make content public.

Providers may receive technical data, account data, user content, or metadata depending on the feature being used. They process information for the service functions they provide.

Cookies and Browser Storage

chordwright uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, protect sessions, remember product state, measure first-party product usage, and support security controls. Browser storage may keep local drafts and recovery data on your device. Clearing browser storage may remove local drafts that have not been published or synced.

Security and Monitoring

We use technical safeguards such as authentication, access controls, request validation, security headers, rate limiting, abuse detection, structured monitoring logs, and security event review. These tools help us investigate errors, suspicious behavior, policy violations, and service reliability issues.

No internet service can guarantee perfect security, but we work to limit access and respond to risks.

How Long We Keep Information

We keep account information, charts, comments, reports, requests, and preferences while your account or the relevant content remains active. Information may be kept longer when needed for security, backups, legal compliance, abuse prevention, dispute handling, or product integrity. Browser-stored drafts remain on your device until they are cleared by you, your browser, or the app.

Your Rights and Choices

You have controls over how you use chordwright and what you choose to share.

• Update account details and preferences from your dashboard where those controls are available.
• Choose whether to publish charts or keep them private.
• Delete or archive charts where product controls are available.
• Clear local browser drafts through your browser settings or product controls where available.
• Request access, correction, export, or deletion of personal information by contacting the site operator through support, report, or account channels in chordwright.

Children

chordwright is not intended for children under 13. Do not create an account or submit personal information if you are under 13. If we learn that personal information from a child under 13 was collected, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

International Use

If you use chordwright from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where service providers operate. Those locations may have different data protection laws than your home country. By using chordwright, you understand that information may be transferred and processed where the service and its providers operate.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the product changes. When changes are material, we will update the effective date and provide notice in a reasonable way, such as through the site, account experience, or another appropriate product channel.
